Wolfsburg to extend unbeaten run in the Bundesliga

Wolfsburg have started the Bundesliga season red-hot. The Wolves are unbeaten to start the season with eight points from 12 possible.

Manager Oliver Glasner has Wolfsburg playing excellent football and only two points separate them from the top of the Bundesliga. The Wolves will welcome Hoffenheim to the Volkswagen Arena on Monday night.

Hoffenheim are playing their first season since 2015-16 without manager Julian Nagelsmann. The young manager was given a chance at Hoffenheim and he turned the club into a top four contender.

They are learning to live without Nagelsmann and struggling to do so. Hoffenheim have collected just four points from their first 12 available. The Blues were beaten a week ago by Freiburg at home, 3-0. The Wolves will be licking their chops with Hoffenheim struggling.

Wolfsburg have collected four points from six at home. After beating Koln 2-1, they drew 1-1 with newly-promoted Paderborn. Both home victories came against newly-promoted teams. Hoffenheim may be struggling, but should be a step up in competition for the Wolves.

Hoffenheim have tallied one point from six available on their travels. They have failed to score away from home this term but have conceded just one goal. After losing 1-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt, Hoffenheim managed a nil-nil draw against Bayer Leverkusen.

Wolfsburg picked up a midweek win in the Europa League, 3-1, against Oleksandriya. The Wolves will go into Monday night in a fine mood believing they can continue their unbeaten run in the league.

Glasner is without key centre-back John Brooks, who won’t be back until late October. Brooks is joined by Koen Casteels, Daniel Ginczek, Xaver Schlager, and Ignacio Camacho on the sidelines. Their absences are major blows to Glasner as he won’t be able to rotate his side after a midweek fixture.

The manager has got consistent scoring from Wout Weghorst and Josip Brekalo. The duo has tallied five of Wolfsburg’s seven goals in the Bundesliga. Weghorst and Brekalo have registered 71% of Wolfsburg’s scoring.

Hoffenheim will be without Andrej Kramaric, who hasn’t played this season, along with attacking midfielder Steven Zuber.

Five of the last 10 matches between Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga ended with both teams scoring. Six of their last 10 league games ended in over 2.5 goals scored.

Wolfsburg are unbeaten in eight of their last 10 fixtures against Hoffenheim. They were unbeaten in their two fixtures last season outscoring Hoffenheim 6-3.

Despite the absences, Wolfsburg will push their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions. Both teams will find the back of the net once more with over 2.5 goals. Wolfsburg will pick up the victory and keep pressure on the top four.
