Manchester United to continue winless road record

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United travel to London on Sunday desperately seeking an end to their winless road record.

The Red Devils have collected just two points from six available on the road. Both road matches this season saw Manchester United finish with 1-1 draws. Each away match also saw Manchester United jump out to a first-half lead only to concede a goal in the second half.

Sunday’s opponent West Ham will be confident of getting a point at the very least at home against Manchester United. The Hammers are undefeated in their last four Premier League matches.

They sit eighth in the league with eight points from 12 and are only behind Manchester United due to goal difference. West Ham have collected three points from six at home. After a heavy loss to Manchester City at the London Stadium, they rebounded with a 2-0 win over Norwich City.

Manchester United are coming off of a midweek Europa League win over Astana, 1-0. The Red Devils struggled to get past the Kazakhstan Premier League team. Mason Greenwood’s 73rd-minute goal was enough to see the Red Devils to victory to kick off the tournament.

Solskjaer played a strong team in midweek that included Marcus Rashford and Nemanja Matic. Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were substitutes while Harry Maguire was left on the bench.

The Red Devils have several players fighting fitness in a race to be available for Sunday’s trip to West Ham. Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, and Daniel James are all listed as 50% likely to play. If Solskjaer can fit any of the three players into the team he certainly will.

James has three goals this season while Rashford has tallied three as well. However, two of Rashford’s three goals came from the penalty spot.

Manuel Pellegrini is without Winston Reid and Michail Antonio due to injury. Meanwhile, Arthur Masuaku is suspended for the fixture.

West Ham are undefeated against Manchester United at the London Stadium in their last two matches at the venue. West Ham won 3-1 against Manchester United at the London Stadium last season and led 2-0 at halftime.

Seven of the last 10 matches between West Ham and Manchester United in all competitions ended with both teams scoring. Sunday’s fixture should once again see the two clubs find the back of the net.

West Ham should once again get a point against their rivals at the London Stadium as nothing can separate the Hammers and Red Devils.
