Lyon set to stun PSG

PSG’s 3-0 humbling of Spanish giants Real Madrid on matchday one of the Champions League was one of the biggest talking points from the opening round of fixtures in Europe’s elite competition.

This season, the French champions look determined to mount a realistic challenge to win the biggest trophy in European club football. However, the team from Paris will not want to lose their domestic crown either.

No team has realistically come near to taking PSG down in the last few seasons. However, they cannot afford complacency. A trip to Sunday to Lyon on Sunday night is the sort of fixture that Thomas Tuchel’s team has to take seriously.

Apart from a slip-up at Rennes which resulted in a 2-1 defeat, PSG have looked comfortable this season. Their points total of 12 of a possible 15 has been enough to keep them top of the pile in Ligue One. Rennes are also the only team to have breached the PSG backline this season.

Even without the likes of Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe through injury in the league, and Neymar through suspension in the Champions League, the Parisians have won matches. A trip to Lyon may just be their toughest assignment of the season so far.

A 1-1 home draw with Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League last time out means that OL have now drawn their last three games in all competitions while failing to win in four.

Despite that relatively poor recent record, Lyon still possesses a massive threat to PSG, especially at the Groupama Stadium, where they have won seven of their last ten games.

With forward players Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele in their team, the home side poses an attacking threat to any team they face.

In fact, Forebet predicts Lyon’s attacking threat will be enough for them to pull off a home win in a high-scoring game to end their poor run of form.
