Bournemouth make the short trip along the south coast to face Southampton at St. Mary’s on Friday night.

It’s 9th vs. 10th in the Premier League, as both sides sit on 7 points – level on a goal difference of –1.

The hosts come into this match on the back of a hard-fought away victory at Sheffield United.

Southampton came under a lot of pressure at Bramall Lane, but after resisting Sheff Utd, Moussa Djenepo gave the Saints victory with a fantastic individual effort.

After two defeats in their opening two Premier League matches, Southampton are now unbeaten in three, and will be looking to extend their good run of form on Friday.

Southampton’s Premier League record so far stands at W2-D1-L2.

Bournemouth also picked up an impressive win last time out, beating Everton 3-1 at the Vitality Stadium.

A brace from Callum Wilson and a goal from Ryan Fraser ensured the Cherries secured all three points against the Toffees.

Despite registering just 40% possession, Bournemouth made their chances count, and ended a run of two league games without a win.

Bournemouth’s Premier League record this season also stands at W2-D1-L2.

The Cherries were boosted by the return of Lewis Cook last weekend following a lengthy spell side-lines due to injury.

The England midfielder played a key role in Bournemouth’s win against Everton, and manager Eddie Howe will be delighted to have Cook back and available for selection again.

Lloyd Kelly is close to making a return for the Cherries, but long-term absentees David Brooks and Simon Francis are still injured.

As for Southampton, they will be hopeful that Nathan Redmond will be available after he missed the Saints trip to Sheffield United last time out.

However, Kevin Danso will be available for selection against Bournemouth after serving his one-game suspension.

Bournemouth haven’t beaten Southampton since 2016, and the Saints are unbeaten in their last six meetings with the Cherries. (W2-D4-L0).

In fact, Bournemouth have managed just one win in their last 12 matches against Southampton.

Four of the last five meetings between the two teams have ended as a draw, and this trend looks set to continue of Friday.

We are likely to see an entertaining draw, with both teams getting on the scoresheet, and over 3.5 goals.
