Brentford to grab the points against Hull City

Brentford bounced back from their opening day defeat in the Championship at home to Birmingham City when they grabbed all three points in last weekend’s win away at Middlesbrough.
On the opening day of the Championship season, Brentford huffed and puffed but they just couldn’t break down a stubborn Birmingham defence as the hosts enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but just couldn’t convert their pressure into goals.
As is so often the case, Birmingham landed the sucker punch to take the spoils in a narrow 1-0 win but Brentford showed their resilience when they travelled to the Riverside Stadium last Saturday.
Brentford registered a narrow win over Middlesbrough to hand them a valuable three points and they now return to their beloved Griffin Park where they’ll play host to Hull City in this, their last season at their present ground.
Griffin Park has become synonymous with fortress-like qualities and indeed, Brentford have suffered just 2 defeats out of their last 13 matches there. During this sequence, The Bees have collected wins over Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, Hull City (5-1) and Leeds United as well as holding Norwich City and Derby County to draws.
Hull City are starting to become similar to Brentford in that The Tigers have made themselves an extremely hard team to beat on home turf at their KCOM Stadium, having lost just 1 of their last 15 matches in the Championship there.
That one defeat was at the hands of promotion-chasing Sheffield United towards the end of last season, but Hull’s results away from home continue to hold the visitors back on a regular basis.
A familiar story has started to unfold in this new Championship season as Hull were handed a 2-1 defeat away at Swansea City on the opening day of the season, despite taking a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers then returned to their KCOM Stadium last Saturday where they posted a 2-1 win over Reading, but this weekend they make the long trip down to the nation’s capital where they’ll be up against a well-organised Brentford outfit in their own backyard.
With just 1 away win out of their last 11 matches on their travels, this looks a tall order for Hull who have lost 8 of these last 11 on the road.
Even without last season’s leading goalscorer, Neil Maupay, Brentford should collect the points on Saturday.
