The Allsvenskan’s top two teams will meet on Sunday as league leaders Malmo travel to second place Djurgaarden.

Both sides go into the fixture unbeaten in their last six matches. Malmo have tallied five wins and a draw. Djurgaarden has equalled Malmo’s five win, one draw feat to keep pace with the leaders.

Djurgaarden are six points behind Malmo in the race for the Allsvenskan title. A loss to Malmo on Sunday and Kim Bergstrand’s team can almost kiss the championship goodbye.

Malmo finished third last term after winning back to back championships in 2016 and 2017. They are desperate to regain the Allsvenskan title and have looked strong in the first half of the season.

Djurgaarden have been hard to beat at home this term. The Stockholm-based club has recorded 14 points from 21 possible. It is the fifth best home points total in the league.

The club has tallied three straight home victories outscoring opponents 7-1. Just one time this season has Djurgaarden lost at home.

Malmo have the Allsvenskan’s third best away points total having tallied 12 points from 21 possible. They are unbeaten in six straight road games. Their last away fixture ended in a nil-nil draw with last season’s champions AIK.

Goals haven’t been plentiful for Malmo on the road. They average fewer than 1.0 goals per away match. The good news for Uwe Rosler’s team is they also concede less than 1.0 goals per away fixture.

Malmo have scored the league’s most goals (27) and striker Markus Rosenberg leads the team with seven strikes. The striker has accounted for 26% of Malmo’s scoring.

Rosenberg scored a hat-trick in midweek as Malmo played Ballymena United in a Europa League first qualifying round match. Malmo won 7-0 against Ballymena United. They should be buoyed to unleash goals against Djurgaarden.

Not to be outdone, Djurgaarden forward Mohamed Buya Turay has scored seven goals as well. The forward has contributed to 29% of Djurgaarden’s goals. Turay has scored in his last two matches and could be on target again this weekend.

The last six matches in all competitions between Djurgaarden and Malmo have been split three wins apiece. Five of the six matches were won by the home team.

Sunday’s game will feature the two best sides in Sweden. They should cancel each other out with the fixture ending in a score draw.
