Toronto set to hold high-flying LA Galaxy
2123
LA Galaxy are enjoying a strong campaign in the Western Conference of MLS. Only city rivals Los Angeles FC have yielded more points in the West this season.
Despite their strong position in the standings, the Carson-based outfit head into a home clash with Toronto in the early hours of Friday morning (GMT) on the back of two defeats in their last three MLS outings.
The defeats will have come as no surprise, though, as the Galaxy have been highly inconsistent in recent months. In fact, they have a record of three wins and six defeats from their last nine outings in the US top-flight.
Even home-field advantage has not helped LA of late, as they have suffered three straight defeats at the Dignity Health Sports Park in MLS. In many ways, they are slightly fortunate to currently occupy second place in the standings.
The home side may not have been highly consistent this season, but star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic just keeps delivering for the Galaxy. The veteran striker has scored 11 times in 14 appearances in MLS this season to keep his team at the right end of the table.
Toronto are currently clinging on to a play-off spot in the Eastern Conference after just one victory in their last ten MLS outings.
The former MLS champions have enjoyed a highly unconvincing campaign so far. In their current form, finishing in the play-offs would be a big achievement this season.
With Orlando and New England breathing down their necks in the standings, the Canadian outfit cannot afford too many more slip-ups if they are to maintain their position in the top seven in the East.
One positive for the visitors is that they have beaten the Galaxy in the last three MLS meetings. However, unfortunately for them, Forebet predicts their good run against Friday’s opponents will end and this clash will finish in a low-scoring draw.
