The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is well under way and we are coming around to the second round of group matches.

Group A features the hosts, Egypt plus DR Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe. The latter two teams meet for their second game of the group on the 26th June at the Cairo International Stadium.

Uganda come into this game on the back of a very good 2-0 win over DR Congo in their opening match of the tournament. Uganda were the underdogs going into the match but took an early lead after 14 minutes. They managed to keep DR Congo at bay and scored their second goal, which was also their second from a set-piece, just 3 minutes after the interval.

That result means Uganda have won their last two games, including the 1-0 friendly win over Ivory Coast before the tournament. Trends show Uganda have lost only one of their last ten games inside 90 minutes.

The Cranes have defeated Lesotho (twice), Cape Verde, Ivory Coast and DR Congo in those ten matches. There have also been draws inside 90 minutes with Nigeria, Lesotho and South Africa. The only defeat came against Tanzania at the end of African Cup of Nations qualifying.

Uganda have been good defensively in recent matches and trends show they have kept three clean sheets in their last four games.

Zimbabwe had a tough ask in their opening fixture of the competition against the hosts, Egypt. Playing in-front of a big home crowd, Zimbabwe did well to restrict the hosts to just one goal but could not find the back of the net themselves.

In truth, Egypt were much the better team and Zimbabwe struggled to maintain any pressure on the Egyptian goal. In fact, they managed just one shot on target in the entire 90 minutes, which is not a good sign of the things to come in terms of scoring goals.

Trends show Zimbabwe have failed to win any of their last five games in all competitions inside 90 minutes. Prior to the defeat against Egypt, The Warriors were held by Nigeria and Tanzania in friendly games and Lesotho and Zambia in the Cosafa Cup.

Zimbabwe have failed to score a goal in three of their last five matches.

Looking ahead to the team news and there is very little need to change anything for Uganda. Faruku Miya was key from set-pieces and his delivery into the box will be important for Uganda once more.

Zimbabwe could be without their first choice goalkeeper who went off injured towards the end of the game. Edmore Sibanda could be replaced by Elvis Chipezeze if he fails to recover in time for kick-off.

Given the results of the first matches, Uganda must start this game as the favourites. Forebet predicts a low-scoring derby and win for Uganda.
