The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations begins on Friday 21st June and will be hosted by Egypt.

They will kick-off the event on Friday night and make up Group A along with Zimbabwe, DR Congo and Uganda. The second game of the group takes place on Saturday and will feature DR Congo and Uganda.

The match will be played at the Cairo International Stadium and this is a hugely important match for both teams. Egypt are expected to top the group while Zimbabwe are expected to come bottom. That could leave a battle for second and third place between DR Congo and Uganda. Third place can also qualify for the knockout stages so points from this game will be crucial.

DR Congo qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations having finished second in their qualifying group. They will be hoping to deliver an improved performance despite losing only one of their six group fixtures.

Trends show DR Congo are undefeated in their last five games and they have lost only one of the last eight. However, four of their last five matches have ended level with draws against Zimbabwe, Congo and Kenya away plus Burkina Faso at home. The win came at home against Liberia in the qualifying group.

DR Congo have seen under 2.5 goals in their last five games and in seven of their last eight matches.

Uganda enjoyed a strong African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign and finished top of their group by 5 points from Tanzania who were second. They won four of their six matches which included victories over Cape Verde and Lesotho away and the same two teams at home.

However, trends show Uganda have won just one of their last five games in all competitions. They lost 3-0 in Tanzania plus were defeated by Lesotho and South Africa on penalties in the COSAFA Cup having drawn both matches.

Much like their opponents, Uganda have seen few high scoring games recently and they have had under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Looking ahead to the teams news and DR Congo will be looking towards Yannick Bolasie and Cédric Bakambu to provide their main goal scoring threat. Chancel Mbemba is a key man in midfield and all three are expected to start the match.

Uganda do not have the same quality of player in their squad and will be relying on Emmanuel Okwi of Simba to score their goals. Godfrey Walusimbi is their most experienced defender but he is currently without a club.

This match is not expected to produce much in the way of goals. However, DR Congo look the stronger team on paper and they could come away with the win all be it with under 2.5 goals scored.
