Interesting Twist in Serie A Top Four Race
2156

There is all to play for on the final day of the Serie A season as teams look to cement their place in the Champions League.  The top four teams qualify for the 2019/20 Champions League and both Juventus and Napoli have sealed their place in the group stages.

There are still two places up for grabs and currently, Atalanta sit in third place and a know a win over Sassuolo on Sunday will guarantee them Champions League football. Sassuolo are safe in mid-table and have only pride to play for in this match.

However, due to Atalanta having work done on their stadium, this match will actually be played at the home of Sassuolo, the MAPEI Stadium.  Atalanta have played at this venue before as the home team but it is still an interesting twist to the game.

Atalanta come into this game having picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at Juventus.  Atalanta led the match 1-0 and while it was disappointing to concede an equaliser, it was a decent point.

Trends show Atalanta have been on a good run in Serie A and they are undefeated in their last twelve games. They have won four of their last five league matches including wins over Udinese and Genoa at home plus Napoli and Lazio away.

Atalanta have scored 2 or more goals in four of their last five Serie A games but have kept just one clean sheet.

Sassuolo held Roma to a 0-0 draw at home last time out, which was a good point.  However, the result does not tell the whole story and Roma created numerous chances to score but the ball would not go in the back of the net.

Nonetheless, that result means Sassuolo have lost only one of their last eight Serie A games.  They have won two of those eight matches with the wins coming at home against Chievo Verona and away to Fiorentina.

Trends show Sassuolo have won only three of their last twenty-one Serie A games, so victories have not been easy to come by this season. Away form shows just one win in their last ten away matches but it is worth remembering they will be playing at their own stadium, where they have drawn three and won one of the last four.

Team news and Atalanta can welcome back José Palomino from suspension but have lost Hans Hateboer for the same reason.  Rafael Tolói is the only injury concern.

Sassuolo will be without the trio of Giangiacomo Magnani, Federico Peluso and Stefano Sensi who are injured.  Filip Djuricic is expected to start in attack.

Despite this game being moved from their home venue, Atalanta will remain confident they can get the job done.  They are in good form and should score at least 2 goals on their way to victory and the Champions League.
