Brentford look for third win on trot when Preston North End visit.

Brentford will look to end their Championship season on a high note by capturing a third and final home win on the trot this Sunday when they play their final match of the season against Preston North End at their beloved Griffin Park.

Whilst overall form has seen a decline in results for the hosts as they’ve managed just two wins out of their last nine matches, The Bees will be looking forward to returning to Griffin Park for this final match of the season having lost 2-1 away at Reading and a 1-1 draw at Millwall in back-to-back away matches.

However, Brentford’s results at Griffin Park this season have been a revelation as The Bees have racked up a total of 13 home wins which is fourth highest in the Championship, and had it not been for their average results away from home this season, they could have made a serious and sustained challenge for a play-off spot.

Preston North End were another team whose form dipped at just the wrong time as the visitors were enjoying a solid and impressive run of 12 matches without defeat in the Championship from mid-January through to mid-March with Alex Neil’s side being touted as possible dark horses for a top six finish.

However, Preston’s play-off challenge fell by the wayside in dramatic fashion as they lost their next four matches on the trot with defeats to Reading, Sheffield United, Leeds United and West Brom in quick succession, and with just the one win from their last seven matches overall, Preston have had to settle for a disappointing mid-table finish.

That win came in the shape of a convincing 4-0 romp over Ipswich Town at Deepdale, but it was far too little too late for Alex Neil and his boys, and having lost their last three away matches on the trot, the visitors will do well to avoid a fourth defeat on the trot on their travels at Brentford on Sunday.

To make matters potentially worse, Preston have failed to beat Brentford at Griffin Park in their last five visits, losing four and drawing once, so their record in the nation’s capital against The Bees is not a favourable one for the Lancashire club.

Forebet predicts that Brentford will finish on a high note here.
