On Tuesday evening, Montpellier host PSG in Ligue One, as the home side look to keep alive their slim hopes of sealing a Europa League spot for next season.

The home side has enhanced their chances of booking a European spot for next season by winning three of their last four Ligue One outings, scoring at least twice in all three victories in the French top-flight. Montpellier are now eight points behind fourth spot.

Last time out, Montpellier recorded a 3-1 win at Strasbourg. Their recent league games have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine Ligue One matches.

Montpellier are unbeaten in three home matches in Ligue One, having recorded back-to-back home wins against Guingamp and Toulouse. The home side has been prolific of late in the French top-flight on home soil, scoring at least two goals in their last six outings at the Stade de la Mosson.

PSG clinched yet another Ligue One title last time out in the league with a 3-1 home win over Monaco. The win means that the Parisians are 16 points clear at the top of the table, despite winning just one of their last four league matches. In fact, the win over Monaco ended a three-game winless streak for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The champions also suffered a penalty defeat to Rennes at the weekend in the French Cup after the game finished 2-2. A controversial incident involving Neymar and a Rennes fan at the end of the game marred the occasion.

PSG have lost their last two away games in Ligue One at Lille and Nantes, conceding at least two goals in both defeats. Tuchel’s side had won their previous four away matches in the French top-flight.

Forebet predicts that the French champions will record a victory in a high scoring clash to dent the home sides chances of securing a top-four spot.
