Betis Form a Concern Ahead of Monday Night Game
2761

The final match of the weekend in La Liga takes place on Monday night as Real Betis host Espanyol at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Any hopes of qualifying for European football next season have long gone for both teams despite their position of 10th and 9th in the league table.  Relegation is also off the menu so both teams are playing to try and finish as high as possible, which could be 7th place.

Real Betis will need to up their game if they are to make strides up the league before the end of the campaign.  Their midweek match at Levante ended in disaster as they lost 4-0 to a team battling relegation.

Trends show Real Betis have failed to win any of their last three La Liga games, losing away to Sevilla and Levante plus at home to Valencia.  That run of results has seen them drop out of contention in the pursuit of European football.

Home form has been poor and Real Betis have recorded just one win in their last seven matches across all competitions.  They have been entertaining to watch on home soil and Real Betis have seen both teams score in each of their last seven games at the Estadio Benito Villamarín in all competitions.

Real Betis have kept only one clean sheet in their last twelve home matches.

Espanyol come into this game in better form than the hosts having picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at home with Celta Vigo on Wednesday night.  That results means they are undefeated in their last five La Liga games.

There have been two wins in that run of five matches, coming against Girona away and Deportivo Alaves at home.  The other three games have ended in draws, with a point coming at home against Getafe and away to Levante in addition to the recent draw with Celta Vigo.

Trends show Espanyol have lost only two of their last fourteen matches in all competitions.  However, they have struggled to keep a clean sheet and have conceded in each of their last ten games.

Away form needs to improve and Espanyol have won only six of their last thirty-six away La Liga matches.

Looking ahead to the team news and William Carvalho is the only doubt for the home team with a hamstring injury. Every other player should be available for Quique Setién.

Espanyol will travel without the injured Roberto Rosales, David Lopez and Pablo Piatti, all three of which may not return until next season.

This should be a good game to watch, with both teams struggling to keep clean sheets. There is not a lot between them as the league table suggests and we could see a draw with both teams scoring.
