Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers to produce goals galore

Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers to produce goals galore
1970

Norwich City were held to a fourth draw on the trot on Easter Monday as The Canaries are limping, rather than flying, home to an automatic promotion spot in the Championship.

The league leaders drew 2-2 away at Stoke City in what was a surprising result given Stoke’s inability to usually score two goals, but on the other hand, Stoke are the draw specialists in the division after all.

Norwich have now drawn 2-2 with Reading, 1-1 with Wigan Athletic and 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday and the finish line is agonisingly close but yet to be crossed by Saturday’s hosts ahead of their clash with Blackburn Rovers.

This Saturday is nicely set up for Norwich though at Carrow Road as it’s their last home match of the season, and all three points here would seal their promotion in front of a full house - that’s if Blackburn don’t spoil the party.

A fifth draw on the trot isn’t impossible, but what we can virtually count on is that goals will be scored at Carrow Road as 16 of their 22 home matches to date have resulted in over 2.5 goals.

Blackburn Rovers have rekindled their form from earlier in the season in recent weeks as the visitors have put together a four-match winning streak which includes wins against Derby County, Nottingham Forest, QPR and Bolton Wanderers, and this is not the sort of form Norwich would have wanted Rovers to be in prior to this Saturday’s clash.

But although Blackburn have won their last two matches away from home on the trot with wins at Nottingham Forest and QPR, one thing in Norwich’s favour is that Rovers possess the worst defensive record away form home in the Championship.

Not only have Blackburn conceded 2 goals or more in 14 of their 22 away matches so far this season, the visitors have also conceded a total of 46 goals to date on their travels which is the highest total away form home in the division.

We know all about the goalscoring exploits of Teemu Pukki for Norwich City, but Blackbirn also possess a couple of dangerous goalscoring threats in the shape of midfielder Bradley Dack (14 goals) and forward Danny Graham (15 goals), and with Norwich not tet over the finish line, they could make things difficult for the hosts here.

Norwich should win, but the over 2.5 goals line looks the favourite to land.
