The remaining teams with games in hand in the Premier League will catch up this week as they complete their outstanding fixtures.  One of the pick of the four games being played comes at Molineux as Wolverhampton Wanderers host Arsenal.

Wolves know a win would be a massive statement of intent in terms of finishing 7th and possibly playing in the UEFA Europa League next season. They start the match 1 point behind Everton who currently occupy that position.  Arsenal are in 6th place and a win would see them move above Chelsea into the final Champions League qualifying position.

It was a disappointing result for Wolves on Saturday as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by relegation threatened Brighton and Hove Albion.  That result means they have failed to win their last three games in all competitions.  There have been defeats to Watford in the FA Cup semi-final and to Southampton in the Premier League.

However, home form has been good and trends show Wolves are undefeated in their last nine home games in all competitions.  There have been seven wins in those nine games with some excellent victories over Liverpool, Leicester City, West Ham United and Manchester United twice.

Indeed, Wolves seem to enjoy playing the top teams at home and they have beaten Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea plus held Manchester City to a draw at Molineux this season.

Arsenal suffered a setback in their pursuit of Champions League football next season as they slumped to a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon. That result ended a run of three straight wins, although two of those wins came in the Europa League quarter-final against Napoli.

Premier League form has not been so good and trends show Arsenal have won three of their last six matches with the victories coming against Manchester United and Newcastle United at home plus Watford away.

Away form shows Arsenal have been struggling to get wins and they have won only two of their last ten away league games.  There have been defeats at Southampton, Liverpool, West Ham, Manchester City and Everton.

Both teams have scored in thirteen of Arsenal’s last sixteen away Premier League games.

Team news and Wolves have no injured or suspended players for this match.  They are unlikely to make major changes to the starting XI against Brighton despite failing to win the game.

Arsenal continue without Rob Holding, Danny Welbeck, Hector Bellerin and Aaron Ramsey.  Granit Xhaka and Denis Suarez are doubtful meaning Matteo Guendouzi could continue in the centre of midfield.

There is a lot at stake for both teams and Wolves have a good home record.  However, Arsenal need to win in order to move into the Champions League positions and have the quality to inflict a rare home defeat on Wolves.
