Aston Villa to continue momentum against Millwall
2686

The Aston Villa juggernaut continued it’s winning momentum away at Bolton Wanderers on Good Friday with a solid 2-0 victory which extended the west midlands club’s winning streak to nine on the trot, and needless to say, the hosts will go in search of a 10th win on the trot in the Championship against Millwall on Easter Monday.

Aston Villa’s excellent winning sequence has not only lifted them into the play-off pack but they now hold a commanding position in 5th place and hold a six point cushion ahead of 7th placed Bristol City who continue to hover around the top six.

Villa will now be keen to attain the most favourable play-off position possible in preparation for the end of season lottery.

Villa have won their last four matches on the trot at Villa Park with wins over Derby County, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City, it’s hard to see them slipping up here.

Overall form has seen Villa lose just once in their last nine on home turf, and with the likes of goalscoring midfielders Hourihane (7 goals) along with McGinn and Grealish (6 goals apiece), as well as bossing the middle of the park, and the prolific goalscoring exploits of Abraham (25 goals) up front, the hosts look unstoppable.

Millwall extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to four matches on Good Friday when they earned a point in a 1-1 draw with Brentford at the Den but The Lions continue to flirt with the relegation zone as they’re just three points above third from bottom club, Rotherham United.

Millwall have recently posted a 2-0 home win against West Brom and have drawn their last three matches on the trot with stalemates against QPR, Sheffield united and Brentford, but it’s their form away from home which continues to worry manager, Neil Harris, and fans alike.

Millwall have managed just three away wins all season which were gained at Ipswich Town, Derby County and Birmingham City, and recent defeats at Swansea City, Hull City, Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United haven’t done them any favours in their bid to avoid being sucked down into the bottom three.

With just three clean sheets on their travels so far this season, Millwall will have their work cut out at Villa Park on Easter Monday as they attempt to keep the free-scoring Aston Villa outfit quiet. Anything other than a home win here would be a shock.
