Liverpool have lost just one of their last 26 Premier League meetings with Everton as the two rivals prepare to renew hostilities at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening.

With five matches remaining, Jurgen Klopp’s side sit level with table-topping Arsenal on 74 points, although third-placed Manchester City have a game in hand.

At the opposite end of the standings, 16th-placed Everton find themselves five points outside the bottom three with a game in hand on their relegation rivals.

The Toffees boosted their survival chances with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, courtesy of goals from Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil.

Sean Dyche’s side have won two of their last three matches, with a 1-0 victory over Burnley preceding a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea.

Still, there is no hiding the fact that Everton have managed to win just two of their previous 16 Premier League encounters, with four defeats coming in their last seven.

That said, the Toffees have lost only one of their previous six home league games, taking nine points from a possible 18 during that period.

As for Liverpool, they secured a 3-1 victory over Fulham on Sunday, keeping their title dreams alive thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota.

Following back-to-back defeats against Atlanta and Crystal Palace, it was vital that Klopp’s side responded with a positive result last time out.

The Reds have lost just one of their last 10 Premier League matches, with only two defeats coming in their previous 26 encounters in the league.

Having scored at least one goal in each of their past 20 away games in the Premier League, Liverpool shouldn’t struggle to find the back of the net on Wednesday.

Head-to-head: Liverpool have claimed three 2-0 victories in their previous four meetings with Everton, recording a goalless draw to achieve four consecutive clean sheets.

It is also worth noting that Klopp’s men have avoided defeat in each of their last 12 matches at Goodison Park across all competitions.

Team news: Everton will be without injured trio Nathan Patterson, Lewis Dobbin and Dele Alli on Wednesday, while Seamus Coleman is a doubt.

Liverpool also have three confirmed injury absentees, with Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Conor Bradley sidelined for the foreseeable future.

When you couple Everton’s current position with Liverpool’s impressive record in this fixture, all the signs point towards an away victory here.

Forebet’s predictive analytics model expects Liverpool to claim the Merseyside bragging rights, although both teams will likely find the back of the net.
