Forebet is back to look at the statistics, data and trends across La Liga this weekend with Girona looking to keep up their hopes of a finish in second this season.

Let’s take a look at the football predictions and probability of them winning again against Rayo Vallecano.

Despite one of their best-ever seasons in Spanish football in what is just their fourth season in La Liga in the past 15 years, Girona seem to have lost grip on the title race.

Their 4-0 loss away to Real Madrid no doubt swung the trophy way in the favour of the 35-time champions of Spain, but by also losing to Athletic Club on Monday, Girona are now way off it.

The gap is six points on Real now from second place, and although this doesn't mean the title rave is over as this could be pulled back within two games, Girona's next aim is to cling onto second place with Barcelona now so close.

The champions are to within only two points of Girona in second, and it now means the club are also only five clear of Atletico Madrid in fourth place and seven above Athletic Club in fifth.

A finish in the Champions League should still be on the cards, but the second-placed side are no doubt becoming desperate for a win.

The last win for Girona was away to the struggling Celta Vigo, as they have also drawn with Real Sociedad in February which now means three games without a win in a row during February.

The club have, however, already defeated Vallecano this year, beating them 3-1 in the Copa del Rey round of 16 before facing a loss to Mallorca in the quarter-finals three weeks ago.

Daley Blind was amongst the goals once more that day for Girona, as Cristhian Stuani scored twice in the first half before Randy Nteka netted for Vallecano.

A similar situation occurred in the reverse La Liga fixture for these two, as Artem Dovbyk and Savio scored a goal each for Girona after seven shots on target away to Vallecano, as Alvaro Garcia Rivera netted for the home side in a 2-1 loss.

Vallecano did Girona a favour last weekend by holding Real to a draw in a Madrid derby, but this also extended their winless run to seven games in all competitions.

Forebet now predicts a win for Girona and under 2.5 goals.
