On Saturday night, attention turns to the Emirates Stadium, as title-chasing Arsenal go in search of a sixth straight league victory when Newcastle United visit the capital.

With a game in hand on the leaders, the Gunners find themselves third in the table – five points behind Liverpool – while eighth-placed Newcastle trail Mikel Arteta’s side by 18 points.

Arsenal enter Saturday’s showdown on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Porto in the UEFA Champions League, with Galeno scoring the winning goal in the 94th minute.

In the Premier League, however, the Gunners have won each of their last five matches, scoring 21 goals (4.2 goals per game) while keeping three clean sheets.

After defeating Liverpool 3-1 at the beginning of February, Arteta’s side crushed West Ham United 6-0 before thrashing Burnley 5-0 last weekend.

When you look at the bigger picture, Arsenal have lost just four of their 25 league games this season, while Newcastle have suffered 10 defeats.

Speaking of Newcastle, they came from behind on two occasions to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth last time out, with Matt Ritchie rescuing a point for his side in the 92nd minute.

That draw extended the Magpies’ unbeaten run in the league to four matches, with two wins and two draws coming since their last loss.

Still, Eddie Howe’s men have managed to win just three of their previous 11 Premier League encounters, suffering six defeats in the process.

Not only have both teams scored in each of Newcastle’s previous seven league games, but they have also seen over 3.5 goals in each of those clashes.

Head-to-head: Newcastle defeated Arsenal 1-0 in the reverse fixture back in November, but the Gunners have won eight of the previous 11 Premier League meetings.

It is also worth noting that Arsenal are unbeaten in 12 home games against Newcastle, with the Gunners achieving eight consecutive clean sheets on top of that.

Team news: Jurrien Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko are injured for Arsenal, while Gabriel Jesus, Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu are doubts for Saturday.

As for Newcastle, Sandro Tonali, Callum Wilson, Joelinton, Nick Pope, Elliot Anderson and Matt Targett remain sidelined, while Alexander Isak is a doubt.

If recent trends are anything to go by, Saturday’s showdown will be a high-scoring affair, with both sides finding the back of the net.

Forebet’s AI algorithm predicts that Arsenal will score over 2.5 goals on their way to securing a sixth successive Premier League victory.
