Can Burnley find a win at Craven Cottage against Fulham?

Fulham qualified for the EFL Cup semifinals on Wednesday night thanks to a 7-6 penalty shootout win over Everton at Goodison Park.

The match finished 1-1 at full-time, with the Cottagers holding their nerve and going through on penalties.

Marco Silva’s team will turn its attention back to the Premier League on Saturday. Burnley will make the trip south to face off with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

While Fulham qualified for the final four of the EFL Cup in midweek, their recent league form has been hot and cold.

The Cottagers took just nine points from the last six matches. They are coming off a 3-0 loss to Newcastle at St. James’ Park.

Burnley are 19th in the standings and finding life back in the Premier League is difficult. The Clarets won just one of their last six matches in the league.

Just two wins were posted by the team in the opening 17 games. Meanwhile, 13 losses were collected by Burnley in that time.

Surprisingly, Burnley have a winning record against Fulham in their last six head-to-head encounters.

The Clarets collected 4W-1D-1L in all competitions. However, these clubs have not played since 2020-21 in a competitive fixture.

Burnley have the second-worst defence in the Premier League. The team conceded 36 goals in 17 games, or 2.12 goals per match.

Vincent Kompany’s team is trying to play like it did a season ago, when it romped to the Championship title.

Premier League teams are just too good, and Burnley need to adapt to stop their poor form. However, it doesn’t appear Burnley will change the way they play anytime soon.

Fulham may be coming off a league loss to Newcastle, but prior to the defeat, the Cottagers won back-to-back matches by 5-0 scores.

A 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest was followed by a 5-0 win over West Ham. Both games were played at Craven Cottage.

Kompany will be without Charlie Taylor due to a knee injury. Luca Koleosho is also nursing a knee injury and will miss the game.

Jack Cork and Aaron Ramsey are unlikely to play following their injury issues. Finally, Johann Berg Gudmundsson is out of action due to a knock.

Silva may need to rotate his team after Fulham’s midweek cup heroics. He is unlikely to have captain Tim Ream is a major doubt due to a calf injury.

Striker Raul Jimenez is suspended after being sent off last weekend. Adama Traore is ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Fulham should once again get a win at home. It won’t be a 5-0 win this time, however. The Cottagers should get a victory 3-1 over Burnley.
