Can Nuno halt Bournemouth’s unbeaten streak on Forest debut?

Nottingham Forest will begin life under Nuno Espirito Santo when in-form Bournemouth visit the City Ground on Saturday afternoon.

Steve Cooper was sacked on Tuesday with the Tricky Trees sitting 17th in the Premier League table – five points outside the relegation zone.

Thanks to an unbeaten run of four wins and one draw, the Cherries have climbed to 14th – five points clear of their next opponents.

Last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur proved to be the end for Cooper, who guided Nottingham Forest back to the Premier League last year following a lengthy absence.

However, the Welshman can have very few complaints about his sacking, as Forest have managed to win just one of their last 13 league outings.

To make matters worse for the Reds, they have lost each of their previous three home games, conceding six goals while firing two blanks.

It goes without saying that Nuno Espirito Santo will be eager to hit the ground running and turn things around, but he faces a difficult start against Bournemouth.

Indeed, the Cherries have taken 13 points from a possible 15 since their last defeat, seeing off Newcastle, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Manchester United.

That run excludes last weekend’s match against Luton Town, which was abandoned at 1-1 after Hatters captain Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest.

While Forest have lost their last three home games, Bournemouth have won their previous three away outings, scoring eight goals in the process.

It is also worth noting that Bournemouth have been winning at half time and full time in each of their last three away matches.

Head-to-head: Nottingham Forest have failed to win any of their last six meetings with Bournemouth, suffering four defeats along the way.

Last season, the Cherries took four points from a possible six against the Tricky Trees, coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the City Ground.

Team news: The hosts are still without key striker Taiwo Awoniyi due to injury, while right-back Serge Aurier is a doubt for Saturday’s clash.

On the flip side, Bournemouth have multiple injuries, with Tyler Adams, Max Aarons, Lloyd Kelly, Ryan Fredericks and Emiliano Marcondes all on the treatment table.

Naturally, Forest will be desperate to benefit from a new-manager bounce, but in-form Bournemouth have more than enough quality to spoil Nuno’s party.

Forebet predicts that Bournemouth will extend their winning streak on Saturday, scoring over 1.5 goals while keeping a clean sheet.
