AC Milan will aim to keep pace with Serie A frontrunners Inter Milan and Juventus when they travel to the Gewiss Stadium to take on Atalanta on Saturday.
With 14 matches in the books, Milan find themselves third in the standings – four points shy of second-placed Juventus and six points behind table-topping Juventus.
As for Atalanta, they find themselves eighth – nine points behind Milan – having failed to win any of their previous four league games.
Atalanta head into Saturday’s clash on the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Torino, with Duvan Zapata scoring twice against his former club.
La Dea have now lost three of their previous four Serie A games, with 2-1 defeats to Inter and Napoli preceding Monday’s humiliation in Turin.
It would not be unfair to say that Atalanta have been wildly inconsistent this season, as they have recorded six wins, two draws and six losses in the league.
That said, La Dea can take confidence from their performances in the Europa League, having won three and drawn two of their five matches this campaign.
Meanwhile, AC Milan secured a 3-1 victory over Frosinone last time out, courtesy of goals from Luka Jovic, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori.
That win extended Milan’s unbeaten streak in the Serie A to three matches, with the Rossoneri taking seven points from a possible nine since their last loss.
Milan made a hugely impressive start to their Serie A campaign, winning seven of the opening eight games while scoring 16 goals.
Since then, however, the Rossoneri have recorded two wins, two draws and two losses in the league, giving Atalanta some hope ahead of Saturday’s contest.
Head-to-head: Unfortunately for Atalanta, they have failed to win any of their last five Serie A meetings with Milan, suffering four defeats in that time.
It is also worth noting that Milan have lost just two of their previous 11 league matches against La Dea, scoring over 1.5 goals on six occasions.
Team news: Atalanta are currently without injured duo El Bilal Toure and Lukas Vorlicky, while Jose Luis Palomino, Gianluca Scamacca and Rafael Toloi are doubts.
AC Milan, meanwhile, have Mattia Caldara, Pierre Kalulu, Marco Pellegrino and Malick Thiaw on the treatment table, with question marks hanging over Simon Kjaer and Noah Okafor.
When you couple Atalanta’s poor form with their recent record in this fixture, all the signs point towards an away victory on Saturday.
Accordingly, Forebet predicts that AC Milan will claim all three points at the Gewiss Stadium, scoring over 1.5 goals on their way to victory.
