Everton are on a journey to overturn their Premier League points deduction. The Toffees are fresh off a strong performance against Nottingham Forest away from home.

Everton claimed a 1-0 win and are now 18th in the league standings. On Thursday night, Everton can leapfrog Luton Town in the standings with a win over Newcastle United. A win would take Everton out of the bottom three.

Newcastle United are sixth in the division and on a two-game winning streak.

Their 1-0 home win over Manchester United has them on the verge of cracking the top five.

The Magpies did the double over Everton last season, winning at Goodison Park 4-1 and 1-0 at St. James’ Park.

Everton won just one of their last six matches against Newcastle. That victory came at Goodison Park in 2021-22.

Newcastle United are in form ahead of the match. They took 13 points from the last 18 points on offer in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s team scored 12 goals and conceded five times in those six matches.

While Newcastle have played well at home, they have not played quite as well on the road. The Magpies have a record of 1W-2D-3L away from St. James’ Park.

Everton may not be able to take advantage of Newcastle’s poor away form, however.

The Toffees took just four points from seven matches at Goodison Park this term. They were outscored 9-5 by opponents.

Sean Dyche’s team is in decent form ahead of the match. They went unbeaten in four of their last five matches, picking up 10 points.

Everton struggle in front of goal. They scored the third-fewest goals in the league after 14 games, with a mere 15.

The defence conceded 20 goals in 14 matches and averaged 1.43 goals allowed per match.

Dyche could be without striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin once more. He is nursing a calf injury.

Midfielder Amadou Onana is also nursing a calf injury and is highly unlikely to play. Meanwhile, Andre Gomes is ruled out with a leg injury.

Howe will be without goalkeeper Nick Pope following a serious shoulder injury. The club is exploring the signing of former Man United player David De Gea.

Dan Burn and Jacob Murphy will also be out of the match due to injuries.

Making matters worse will be the absences of Callum Wilson, Elliott Anderson, Sean Longstaff, Sven Botman, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes, and Matt Targett. All of them are injured.

Despite the injuries, Newcastle should win for the third straight match against Everton. It should be a close fixture, with the game ending 2-1.
