Two hopefuls of the European spots will clash in La Liga this weekend at the Reale Arena with Real Sociedad looking for the top four before the end of 2023 with Sevilla up next for the club.

It's been another very commendable campaign for Sociedad in 2023/24 after getting into the Champions League for this campaign.

They are so far unbeaten in the Champions League and sit ahead of Inter Milan in Group D with 10 points and an unbeaten record - this also means they have already qualified for the knockout rounds after beating Benfica 3-1 last time out.

Back in La Liga, Sociedad head into this one with a loss to Barcelona at the start of November but having also beaten Almeria 3-1 in the last outing before the international break.

Mikel Oyarzabal scored that day before Carlos Fernandez won the game with a 91st penalty, as Martin Zubimendi made sure of the three points with a goal in the 95th minute.

Imanol Alguacil's men are sitting behind the top four spots by six points in La Liga right now, and are only adrift of Athletic Club by two points as well.

Alguacil's side have lost three times now in La Liga, but they are also into the next round of the Copa del Rey after beating Bunol 1-0 earlier this month.

Further losses in La Liga have seen them lose to Atletico and Real Madrid, but this does also mean they’ve only suffered defeats to those in the top four and the biggest three clubs in Spain.

As for Sevilla, despite also being in the Champions League this season after yet another Europa League triumph, they are far from achieving a spot among Europe's elite this season, just like was the case last campaign.

In 2022/23, Sevilla finished 12th with 15 losses and only 13 wins, and they come into this game with just two victories after 12 games and four losses.

What all but sums up their league performances so far is how they've scored 18 goals and conceded 17.

Back in Europe, the Seville outfit lost to Arsenal once again last time out and sit bottom of Group B with very few hopes of turning around their three-point disadvantage on PSV Eindhoven and Lens above them.

On the other hand, with a meeting with Lens and PSV to come, they can still do it.

Forebet predicts a draw here for Sociedad and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
