Newcastle United will aim to continue their ascent of the Premier League table when they take on struggling Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Having avoided defeat in each of their last seven league outings, Eddie Howe’s men find themselves sixth in the table – four points shy of the top four.

At the opposite end of the standings, the Cherries sit third from bottom, having won just one of their 11 Premier League encounters this season.

Bournemouth finally picked up their first league win under Andoni Iraola a fortnight ago, defeating fellow strugglers Burnley 2-1.

However, the south coast side were brought back down to earth with a bang last weekend, enduring a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City.

Not only have the Cherries lost five of their last six league games, but they have also lost six of their previous eight matches across all competitions.

To make matters worse, only bottom club Sheffield United (30) have conceded more Premier League goals than Bournemouth (27) this term.

Newcastle, on the other hand, suffered a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday, despite enjoying the lion’s share of possession in Germany.

That said, the Magpies have lost just one of their last four games across all competitions, with only two defeats coming in their previous 13 outings.

In the Premier League, Eddie Howe’s men have racked up an impressive seven-game unbeaten streak of five wins and two draws, keeping five clean sheets in the process.

Thanks to a 1-0 victory over Arsenal last weekend, Newcastle will be confident of extending their unbeaten run on Saturday.

Head-to-head: Newcastle have avoided defeat in each of their last seven Premier League meetings with Bournemouth, picking up three wins and four draws.

It is also worth noting that 23 goals have been scored across the past seven encounters (3.3 goals per game), meaning Saturday’s clash will likely be a high-scoring affair.

Team news: Bournemouth’s injury list features Tyler Adams, Ryan Fredericks, Emiliano Marcondes, Neto, Alex Scott and Darren Randolph.

Newcastle have multiple absentees of their own, including Sandro Tonali, Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn, Harvey Barnes, Elliot Anderson, Sven Botman, Alexander Isak and Matt Targett.

Although the Magpies tasted defeat in the Champions League in midweek, they are expected to bounce back against lowly Bournemouth.

Forebet predicts that Newcastle will score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory over Bournemouth, who look set to suffer an eighth defeat in 12 league games.
