Following a wild 4-1 defeat to Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur will aim to return to winning ways when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou’s side find themselves second in the table – one point shy of leaders Manchester City – having recorded their first loss of the season last time out.

Meanwhile, Wolves occupy 14th place in the standings. Not only are they 14 points behind Spurs, but they are also just six points outside the relegation zone.

Gary O’Neil’s men suffered a 2-1 defeat against Sheffield United last weekend, handing the Blades their first Premier League win of the campaign after 11 matches.

Wolves were enjoying a five-game unbeaten streak in the league, having picked up two wins and three draws, but they were brought back down to earth last time out.

In terms of the overall picture, the Wanderers have managed to win just three of their 11 Premier League encounters this term, recording three draws and five losses.

They have also claimed a solitary victory in five home league games, although they managed to beat Manchester City 2-1 at Molineux.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, they were involved in one of the craziest matches in recent Premier League history on Monday, eventually suffering a 4-1 defeat to Chelsea.

The game involved countless VAR checks, multiple disallowed goals, two red cards for Spurs, a penalty for Chelsea and a hat-trick for Nicolas Jackson.

Still, Tottenham have lost only one of their 11 Premier League clashes this season, picking up eight wins and two draws to remain firmly in the title races after 11 games.

Having taken 14 points from a possible 18 of their travels, Postecoglou’s men will be confident of bouncing straight back when they visit Molineux this weekend.

Head-to-head: Both sides claimed a 1-0 home victory in this fixture last season, meaning six of their previous seven meetings have produced under 2.5 goals.

That said, Wolves have managed to win just four of their last 15 Premier League matches against Tottenham, suffering seven defeats in the process.

Team news: Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently without the injured trio of Pedro Neto (thigh), Hugo Bueno (thigh) and Joseph Hodge (shoulder).

As for Spurs, Ivan Perisic (knee), Manor Solomon (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (thigh), Micky van de Ven (thigh) are injured, while Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie are suspended.

Regardless of the events that occurred during Monday’s thrashing, Tottenham are expected to put the defeat to Chelsea behind them at the first available opportunity.

Forebet predicts that Spurs will return to winning ways on Saturday, with the visitors likely to score over 1.5 goals on their way to victory.
