AEK and Marseille Fighting for Top Spot in Group B

The Europa League is back this Thursday with AEK Athens welcoming Marseille to Greece just two weeks on from suffering a loss to the Ligue 1 giants back in France as Gennaro Gattuso continues to struggle at the helm.
It’s been far from a positive start for Gattuso as the head coach of Mariselle, but he does come into this one in good stead within the Europa League.
The Italian guided his side to a 3-1 win over Athens in the last outing as Vitinha scored the opening goal of the day before an equaliser from Orbelin Pineda.
Amine Harit got Marseille back in front with a penalty, as Jordan Veretout netted from 12 yards shortly afterwards too. Cican Stankovic was sent off for Athens in that game and now misses this match.
Such results keep Marseille top of the table in Group B, but with a 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion and a draw with Ajax too, there is still so much to play for in this group and it remains very unpredictable.
The Ligue 1 side are top, however, and have scored eight goals and let in six.
Back in France, however, the club continue to struggle and have now won just one of their previous five games.
This has seen them lose 4-0 in Paris to Paris Saint-Germain, lose away at Monaco and Nice, while also drawing with Lille over the past weekend.
Marseille's only win has been in a 3-0 victory over Le Havre that saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang score in the first half before a finish from Ismalia Sarr later on in the game.
That win was only Marseille's third of the season in Ligue 1, although they do have a game in hand to play.
What all but sums up their season is how they have let in 12 goals and scored 12 too, drawing four times and losing the other three matches.
As for Athens, they come into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw with Kifisia and a 2-0 win over rivals PAOK ever since that loss to Marseille.
They are second in Group B with four points after beating Brighton & Hove Albion on the south coast back in September.
Athens are now sitting third in the Super League Greece with six wins and only one win. Forebet now predicts a win here for Marseille and over 2.5 goals.
