Red Bull Salzburg are in desperate need of a win at home against Inter in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night

The Austrian club is third in Champions League Group D, with three points from three games.
If Salzburg are to make the last 16, they must win on matchday No. 4 against Inter Milan. Anything less than a win would likely see Salzburg fail to make the last 16.
Inter took seven points from their opening three games. They go into round No. 4 of the Champions League in second place in Group D thanks to goal difference.
Simone Inzaghi’s team, which lost the Champions League final last season, is behind Real Sociedad on goal difference.
Group D started as a very difficult group, with Sociedad, Inter, Salzburg, and Benfica battling for the top two places.
However, Group D has unfolded with Sociedad and Inter dominating. Benfica will start matchday No. 4 at the bottom of the table with zero points.
The Nerazzurri go into Wednesday unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions.
Each of the Italians’ last four games finished as wins. They currently lead Serie A by two points over long-time rival Juventus.
Red Bull Salzburg went unbeaten in their last three matches in all competitions.
Uncharacteristically, the Red Bulls are not running away with the Bundesliga title. They are just two points ahead of Sturm Graz.
These teams met on Champions League Group D matchday No. 3, with Inter winning 2-1.
Alexis Sanchez put the Nerazzurri into the lead with a 19th-minute goal. Salzburg’s Oscar Gloukh levelled the score on 57 minutes. However, Hakan Calhanoglu scored from the penalty spot on 64 minutes.
Despite only tallying three shots on target compared to Salzburg’s six, Inter won thanks to dominating possession with 55%. The teams combined for eight corners (four apiece) and three yellow cards.
Inzaghi will be without the services of full-back Benjamin Pavard. He is out with a knee injury until December. Winger Juan Cuadrado is unlikely to play following a muscle injury.
Salzburg coach Gerhard Struber has numerous players set to miss out on matchday No. 3.
Midfielder Maurits Kjaergaard is out with a shoulder injury. Defenders Aleksa Terzic and Kamil Piatkowski are both unlikely to play due to leg injuries.
Forwards Sekou Koita has a pulled muscle, and Fernando is also struggling with a muscle problem. Meanwhile, Bryan Okoh, Lukas Wallner, and Justin Omoregie all have thigh and hamstring injuries that will likely keep them sidelined.
Inter Milan should continue their strong form in the Champions League with a 1-0 away win. The Nerazzurri’s defence should starve Salzburg of chances. The win will enable the Nerazzurri to qualify for the next round with two games to spare.
