After knocking Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup, Newcastle United will visit Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils are coming off a 3-0 loss to Man City in the Premier League.

The loss has once again thrown Man United into crisis. Questions are being asked about Erik ten Hag’s job security, although plenty of insiders believe his position is safe for now.

Wednesday’s Carabao Cup last-16 match at Old Trafford will be a rematch of last season’s final. Manchester United won 2-0 against Newcastle in a decisive performance from start to finish.

Newcastle United can get revenge against Man United on Wednesday night and punch their ticket to the quarterfinals of the competition.

While Man United lost 3-0 at the weekend to Manchester City in the derby, Newcastle drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite the draw, Eddie Howe’s team is unbeaten in their last six matches.

After a slow start to the season, Newcastle are improving in the league. In their last six games, they scored 19 times and conceded only four times.

Man United won three and lost three times in their last six Premier League games. They continue to struggle to score. Just six goals were scored in United’s last six Premier League matches.

Newcastle United do not have a good head-to-head record against Man United in their last six fixtures. The Red Devils recorded three wins, two draws, and one defeat against the Magpies.

Last season, Newcastle claimed a 2-0 win at St. James’ Park against Man United in the Premier League.

Howe’s team also went to Old Trafford and sealed a nil-nil draw in the Premier League. However, their Carabao Cup final finished 2-0 in United’s favour.

Ten Hag has several players suffering from injuries ahead of the cup match. Defender Lisandro Martinez is out of action. Full-backs Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw are both set to miss the match.

Full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is likely to miss the game with a thigh injury. Casemiro is a doubt going into the fixture following an ankle injury. Jadon Sancho continues to be out of favour with Ten Hag. Meanwhile, Amad Diallo is ruled out with a knee injury.

Howe won’t have midfielder Sandro Tonali who is now serving a 10-month ban. Winger Harvey Barnes is out of action following an ankle injury.

Joining him on the sidelines will be Elliott Anderson, Alexander Isak, Sven Botman, Lewis Miley, and Jacob Murphy are all ruled out as well.

Although United are coming off a derby loss, Ten Hag should rally the troops.

Newcastle have plenty of key players out of action, which should help the Red Devils pick up a win. Playing at home will also help United pull off a 2-1 last-16 Carabao Cup win.
