A Tense Semi-Finals Battle Goes Down Between Nagoya and Fukuoka
2447

It's the J League Cup semi-finals this Wednesday with an early kick off at the Best Denki Stadium ahead of two legs in this competition between two sides sitting by one another in the league table.

Heading into this game, it is Nagoya who are ahead of Fukuoka in the league table with only five games left to play in the J1 League.

The sixth-placed side have now won 13 games, lost eight and drawn the other eight.

One of those losses was to Fukuoka, as they managed to beat them 1-0 with a late finish from Wellington.

Nagoya would also have just one shot on target that day and were by far the second best team in the game.

Worse yet, Nagoya have not got a win in a league game since, drawing in a 1-1 game with Consadole Sapporo where Kasper Junker scored in the first half.

The club would then go on to lose to Sanfrecce in a 3-1 defeat where Junker scored once again.

The last win for the club came in a quarter-finals battle against Kashima Antlers, beating them 3-2 across two legs and 2-1 in the second leg. Haruki Yoshida and Taika Nakashima scored a goal each that day.

There is also still a chance that Nagoya gets into the top three, as they sit just three points behind Urawa Reds in the race for a spot in the AFC Champions League, as they also sit seven points behind second place.

Fukuoka head into this match off the back of a loss in the Emperor's Cup semi-finals, as Takeshi Kanamori scored in the first half before Reju Tsuruno scored in the 96th minute of the game. They did also fall 1-0 down inside five minutes that day.

This did end a run of four games in the unbeaten column for Fukuoka after winning their quarter-finals battle over FC Tokyo where Itsuki Oda and Yuya Yamagishi scored a goal each.

The club have also managed to draw 0-0 with Kashima Antlers and also defeat Kashiwa Reysol 3-1 in the league recently, after also putting together a victory over Nagoya.

Kazuya Konno and Takeshi Kanamori scored goals in the 3-1 win over Reysol, as the former bagged a brace.

This has put the club in eighth this season, as they have now won the same amount of games as Nagoya.

The club have, however, lost two more games and sit with only 30 goals scored from 29 matches - only Yokohama and Reysol have scored fewer goals.

Forebet predicts a draw and under 2.5 goals.
