Luton Town are back at Kenilworth Road this Tuesday night to play out their postponed fixture with Burnley after securing their first victory in Premier League history last time out.
This game was due to be played in August, but after promotion to the Premier League following a victory in the playoffs, Luton had troubles in getting their stadium fit to the standards of England’s top flight.
However, Kenilworth Road is finally up and running to play hosts to two of the teams that progressed out of the Championship in 2022/23.
Burnley were the winners of the Championship last season, as Luton secured promotion via the playoffs. However, heading into this game a campaign on from that enthralling Championship campaign, it is the winners of the second tier who remain winless in the Premier League.
Burnley suffered a 2-0 loss on the road to Newcastle United last time out and it kept them in the relegation zone and down in 19th after six games.
They - like the other two teams in the bottom three - are yet to win a game, but a victory here for the Clarets could rocket them into 17th and force Luton into the relegation zone. They will, however, need to win the match at least 4-0, given the goals difference margin.
The only point picked up for Burnley this season saw them grab a draw away to Nottingham Forest, as Zeki Amdouni scored in the first half before a Forest equaliser in the second. Lyle Foster was sent off in the final few minutes of the game, but he can now return to action.
Burnley also have more injury concerns to worry about, as Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Benson Manuel and Nathan Redmond are all ruled out until after the international break. Hjalmar Ekdal is nearing a return, while Darko Churlinov and Michael Obafemi are out of action in this one.
As for Luton, their famous victory at Goodison Park over Everton on Saturday brought them their first-ever Premier League win.
Carlton Morris bagged a goal that day, as Tom Lockyear scored in the first half too.
Morris also scored Luton’s second home goal of the season with a penalty conversion against Wolverhamton Wanderers in a 1-1 draw.
The other result at Kenilworth Road for the Hatters saw them lose 2-1 against West Ham United, as Mads Juel Andersen scored in the dying embers.
Forebet predicts a draw here and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
