Atletico Madrid’s upset win over Real Madrid in round No. 6 of La Liga has thrown the title race wide open in the early stages of the campaign in Spain.

Diego Simeone’s team is fifth ahead of a midweek trip to Osasuna’s El Sadar Stadium. Los Rojiblancos have a game in hand over the teams ahead of them in the table.

Six points currently separate Atletico from league leader Barcelona.

Osasuna find themselves in 11th place after six matchdays. Los Rojillos are struggling and go into the match this week winless in their last three games.

Only seven points were picked up by Osasuna in their opening six matches. They scored seven goals and conceded eight times across those six fixtures.

El Sadar has not been a cosy place to play this term for Los Rojillos. They failed to win any of their opening three home matches, taking just one point from nine. Osasuna scored a mere one goal at home and conceded four times.

Atletico opened the season by taking 10 points from the opening 15 points on offer.

Their 3-1 win over Real Madrid on Sunday night was impressive but questions remain over whether Simeone’s team can be consistent.

The road hasn’t been easy for Atletico this season. They took four points from nine away from the capital. Atletico were thrashed 3-0 by Valencia in their last away fixture.

Atletico Madrid dominated their last six matches in all competitions against Osasuna, winning all six games.

The last four matches ended in wins to nil for Atletico Madrid. They outscored the Pamplona club 8-0.

Simeone has several players on the injury list going into the fixture. Midfielders Pablo Barrios and Thomas Lemar are both ruled out with injuries.

Midfielder Rodrigo De Paul is a doubt with a muscle injury. Caglar Soyuncu could miss the match with a hip injury.

Alvaro Morata leads Atletico with five goals. Antoine Griezmann and Marcos Llorente have added two goals apiece.

Osasuna’s Unai Garcia is a doubt due to physical discomfort. Jon Moncayola is a doubt thanks to a foot injury. Midfielder Darko Brasanac is ruled out with an ACL injury until December.

Atletico Madrid should keep their good run of form against Osasuna going, with a 3-0 win at El Sadar. Morata could continue scoring with a goal. The win could help Atletico close the gap with first-place Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title.
