The North London Derby takes centre stage in the Premier League on Sunday as Arsenal host arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.

Both sides have taken 13 points from a possible 15 this season, with Tottenham leading Arsenal in the table on goal difference.

Can the Gunners extend their unbeaten start to the 2023-24 campaign? Or will Spurs spoil the party at the Emirates? It’s time to take a closer look at the teams.

Let’s start with the hosts, Arsenal, who head into Sunday’s showdown on the back of a dominant 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard all found the back of the net on Wednesday, underlining Arsenal’s attacking threat.

In the Premier League, the Gunners have already dispatched Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Everton, drawing with Fulham before the international break.

When you look at the bigger picture, Mikel Arteta’s men have lost just five of their previous 37 league outings.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, they came from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United last time out, with Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski both scoring in second-half stoppage time.

Not only did Spurs enjoy 71% of the ball against the Blades, but they also racked up 28 shots, limiting their visitors to just seven attempts.

As a result, Tottenham enter Sunday’s clash on a four-game winning streak in the league, having defeated Man Utd, Bournemouth and Tottenham before overcoming Sheff Utd.

It is also worth noting that Spurs have scored over 1.5 goals in each of their five league outings this season, averaging 2.6 goals per game.

Head-to-head: Arsenal won both matches against Tottenham last season, meaning the Gunners have won four of the previous five North London Derby showdowns.

That said, Spurs have avoided defeat in five of their last nine meetings with the Gunners, recording three wins and two draws since 2019.

Team news: Arsenal’s injury list contains Jurien Timber, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny, while Gabriel Martinelli is a doubt for Sunday’s clash.

As for Tottenham, Ivan Perisic has been ruled out for several months with an ACL injury. Perisic joins Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil on the treatment table.

Given that six of the previous eight league meetings between Arsenal and Spurs have produced over 2.5 goals, the upcoming clash will likely be a high-scoring affair.

Forebet predicts that Arsenal and Tottenham will serve up an entertaining draw, with both teams netting over 1.5 goals.
