A Close Game Expected Between Olympiacos and Freiburg
Olympiacos FC vs SC Freiburg - 21/09/2023
2879
Freiburg will head to Greece this Thursday evening for a Europa League battle at the Georgios Karaiskakis Football Stadium where Olympiacos are once again sitting top of the Greek Super League.
After four games in Greece, Olympiacos have managed to go unbeaten and head into this game with just one goal let in and a stunning 11 scored already.
This season, they will be looking to get their title back from AEK Athens, as they finished 10 points behind them and all the way down in third last season.
It was one of the lowest finishes in Olympiacos’ recent history last time out, as they managed to lose five games and win only 21 of the 36 matches.
This still saw them put together a decent tally of 70 goals scored and just 24 conceded, but it was far from enough to win another league title.
In the last game, Olympiacos travelled to AEK Athens and left the home of the champions with a point after a finish in the first half from Ayoub El Kaabi.
Before this, the Greek giants met with Lamia at home and saw Giorgos Masouras and Kostas Fortounis score a goal each, while El Kaabi also scored.
Another 4-0 victory came before this over Atromitos, where Quini and Mady Camara scored a goal each after a brace from Masouras. Olympiacos had 27 shots that day with nine hitting the target.
The Greek side have also had to go the long way round to qualify for the Europa League, as the club edged past Genk in the third qualifying round before beating Cukaricki 6-1 across two legs in the playoffs.
As for Freiburg, it’s been a tough start to the season for them, despite their rise up the Bundesliga table in recent years.
The club have now lost two games and won two after losing the lead against Borussia Dortmund to eventually lose 4-2. Lucas Holer got amongst the goals that day before Nicolas Hofler scored and was eventually sent off too.
Freiburg have now let in 10 goals already and scored just five after four Bundesliga matches, as they were also beaten by Stuttgart in a stunning 5-0 defeat that saw them register their heaviest defeat in recent seasons.
The only wins so far for Freiburg have seen them defeat Hoffenheim on the road and Werder Bremen back at home.
Forebet predicts a Freiburg win and over 2.5 goals.
