Nottingham Forest ready to exact revenge on Burnley
6928

Burnley will go in search of their first Premier League points of the season when they face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Monday night.

Having suffered three defeats since returning to the top flight – conceding 11 goals in the process – Burnley are rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest find themselves ninth – six points above Burnley – having taken six points from a possible 12 this season.

The Tricky Trees claimed a hugely impressive 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge before the international break, already matching last season’s tally of Premier League away wins.

Although Chelsea racked up 21 shots while seeing 77% of the ball, Forest managed to claim all three points thanks to Anthony Elanga’s second-half strike.

Nottingham Forest’s first victory of the season was a 2-1 win against Sheffield United, with Steve Cooper’s men suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to Manchester United the following weekend.

Having lost just two of their previous 16 home games in the Premier League, the Reds will be confident of getting the better of struggling Burnley on Monday.

As for the Clarets, they have endured a nightmare return to the Premier League, losing each of their opening three matches.

Following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend, Burnley lost 3-1 against Aston Villa before suffering a 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last time out.

Although Vincent Kompany’s side claimed a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the second round of the EFL Cup, they have struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League.

It is also worth noting that Burnley possess the world goal difference in the division (-8), despite playing one game fewer than most teams.

Head-to-head: Last month, Burnley defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground in the EFL Cup, courtesy of a 90th-minute winner from Zeki Amdouni.

When you look at the bigger picture, Burnley have lost just one of their previous 10 meetings with the Tricky Trees across all competitions.

Team news: Nottingham Forest are expected to be without the injured duo of Danilo and Wayne Hennessey for Monday’s clash.

On the flip side, Burnley’s injury list features Hjalmar Ekdal, Darko Churlinov and Michael Obafemi, while Aaron Ramsey and Victor da Silva are doubts.

Although Burnley won at the City Ground last month, Nottingham Forest’s strong home record in the Premier League cannot be ignored.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Nottingham Forest will exact revenge on Burnley this time around, scoring over 1.5 goals on their way to victory.
