Can Liverpool extend Premier League unbeaten streak to 16 matches against Wolves

Liverpool will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have taken 10 points from a possible 12 this term, meaning they sit third in the table – two points behind Manchester City.

At the opposite end of the standings, Wolves find themselves in 15th place – two points outside the relegation zone and seven points shy of Liverpool.

The hosts started their season with back-to-back losses, suffering a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United before enduring a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, Gary O’Neil’s men defeated Everton 1-0 in the third game before crushing Blackpool 5-0 in the second round of the EFL Cup.

Wolves were unable to carry that momentum into their previous match, though, as they suffered a 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Consequently, Wolves have lost three of their four Premier League outings this season, winning just one of their previous seven.

Liverpool, meanwhile, kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea before registering three consecutive wins.

Following a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, the Reds came from behind to beat Newcastle United 2-1 before dispatching Aston Villa 3-0 last time out.

Only Manchester City have picked up more points than Liverpool this term, while only three teams have scored more goals than Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Thanks to a strong end in the previous campaign, Liverpool have avoided defeat in each of their last 15 league outings, losing just two of their past 22.

Head-to-head: Let’s not forget that Wolves claimed a 3-0 home victory over Liverpool last season, although the Reds won the reverse fixture 2-0.

When you look at the bigger picture, the Wanderers have only managed to win one of their previous 13 Premier League matches against Liverpool.

Team news: Wolverhampton Wanderers look set to be without Joseph Hodge this weekend as he continues to recover from a thigh injury.

Liverpool will be without the suspended Virgil van Dijk on Saturday, with Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate are all injury doubts.

When you couple Liverpool’s strong form with their impressive record against Wolves, all the signs point towards an away win on Saturday.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will claim all three points at Molineux, although both teams are expected to score.
