Leipzig to cut Bayern’s lead at the top of the Bundesliga
On Friday night second-place RB Leipzig travel to midtable Augsburg in the Bundesliga, as the visitors attempt to bridge the gap to league leaders Bayern Munich.
Augsburg have endured an inconsistent campaign and are currently 13th in the Bundesliga table. Last time out the home side ended a two-game losing run in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 win at struggling Darmstadt.
Although they seem to be relatively comfortable in midtable, Manuel Baum’s side are just seven points clear of the relegation play-off berths and they will be looking over their shoulders slightly nervously at the relegation zone.
Their form at the WWK Arena has not been great of late, as they have won just two of their last eight Bundesliga outings on home soil. Augsburg have also been poor in defence on home soil in the German top-flight, conceding two or more goals in their last three Bundesliga home games.
RB Leipzig are sitting pretty in second place in the Bundesliga and could cut the gap on reigning champions to just two points with a victory in this one.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side form has not been as good of late as at the start of the campaign, but the Bundesliga new boys are still right in the title race. The visitors responded to defeats by Dortmund and Hamburg by recording consecutive wins over Monchengladbach and Koln.
RB’s games in the Bundesliga have been high-scoring of late, with two or more goals scored in six of their last seven games in the German top-flight. Their away record of late in the Bundesliga is poor, as they have suffered three of their last four games on their travels.
However, RB won their last away game in the German top-flight at Monchengladbach and Forebet predicts that the visitors will record maximum points in this clash.
