Zaragoza's Perfect Start to the Season Faces a Tough Test Against Cartagena
2413

FC Cartagena and Real Zaragoza keep Segunda Division action going this weekend during the international break with the away side heading to the Municipal Stadium Cartagonova top of the Spanish second tier.

It's been a magnificent start to life in the Segunda Division for Zaragoza after a brutal campaign last time out saw them win only 12 of their 42 games and score just 40 goals and end up in 13th.

In fact, they haven't cracked the top 10 for three years and are now well on course in the early stages to put together a promotion bid.

Zaragoza remain the only side in the second tier of Spain to sit with a completely faultless record in both goals and results.

This has seen them win all four games and not drop a single point, while their six goals scored has been matched with no goals let in.

So far, Zaragoza has managed to also beat fellow promotion hopefuls Valldaolid and Tenerife by 1-0 scorelines, as Alejandro Frances bagged the game's only goal against the former before a finish from Jair Amador on the road to Tenerife.

Further results this season have seen the club beat Villarreal B 2-0 after a finish each in the second half from Maikel Mesa and Francho Serrano, while Ivan Azon bagged against Eldense last time out before an own goal sealed a 2-0 win at home.

As for Cartagena, they continue to struggle this season after a ninth-placed finish last year saw them adrift of the top three by 14 points with only 16 wins on the board and the same amount of defeats.

The club are heading into this one with their first win of the season, however, after beating Villarreal B away from home.

Ivan Ayllon netted in the comeback win late on before Alfredo Ortuno grabbed the winning goal just three minutes later.

This does still leave the club down in 18th, with a 1-0 loss at home to Levante coming in before that after a narrow 3-2 defeat away to Andorra.

In that game, Ortuno scored from the spot once more before Ayllon added another goal this season, but a hat-trick from Manu Nieto was too much for Cartagena to get anything out of that game.

The other defeat this season has seen them lose at home to Eldense meaning no points have been collected at home so far. With this in mind, Forebet predicts a win for Zaragoza and under 2.5 goals.
