Real Valladolid desperate to end three-match losing streak in Segunda
3089

Real Valladolid have struggled in the Segunda since being relegated from La Liga last May. Valladolid are on a three-match losing streak going into matchday No. 5 against Elche.

Elche were also relegated from La Liga last season. The Green Striped Ones began the season slowly, losing their opening two matches.

The team bounced back after back-to-back defeats, picking up a draw and a win in subsequent games.

Last season, Valladolid picked up four points from six on offer in La Liga from Elche. Their good form against the Green Striped Ones didn’t prevent relegation, however.

Real Valladolid posted a record of 2W-3D-1L against Elche in their last six meetings.

This will be Valladolid’s third home match of the season.

Los Blanquivioletas took three points from their two previous home matches, scoring two goals and conceding twice. Their lone home win was a 2-0 victory over Sporting Gijon.

Elche played just one previous road game this season. They fell 2-1 away to Eibar. Elche are seeking a win and could move into the league’s top half.

Neither of these teams has scored many goals in the Segunda. Valladolid tallied a mere two in four matches.

They conceded five times. Elche scored just three goals in their four fixtures. The Green Striped Ones conceded four times.

Elche manager Sebastián Beccacece will be without defender Carlos Clerc due to a suspension. Defender Gonzalez Polanco is a doubt following a muscle injury.

Midfielders Cristian Salvador is a doubt with an ankle injury and John Donald Chetauya is ruled out with a broken leg.

Argentine forward Lucas Boye left Elche during the transfer window. He scored one of Elche’s three goals this term.

Boye led the team in goals with seven in La Liga last term and will be a major miss.

Real Valladolid manager Paulo Pezzolano has fewer injury issues heading into the fixture.

Midfielder David Torres is a major doubt due to physical discomfort. Defender Javi Sanchez could miss the game following a muscle strain.

Valladolid’s goalscorers this season are Monchu and Ivan Cedric. Pezzolano desperately needs the squad to find its goalscoring boots.

Los Blanquivioletas have a strong head-to-head record against Elche. They should post a narrow win on Segunda matchday No. 5. Valladolid should win 1-0 to end their three-match losing streak.

All four of Valladolid’s previous matches this season ended with under 2.5 goals. Their win over Elche will be the fifth straight fixture of the season to end with under 2.5 goals.
