Derry Likely to Rack up UCD's 23rd Loss of the League Season
2026

Second takes on 10th in the League of Ireland Premier Division this Wednesday with Derry City set to head to the UCD Bowl to meet with last-placed University College of Dublin where once again the home side are struggling badly.

More often than not, UCD find themselves in this situation most seasons.

They finished 10th back in 2019 and after three years away from the top division, they entered this year after ending 2022's campaign down in ninth.

So far, it is turning out to be their worst seasons in the League of Ireland Premier Division history with just two victories on the board and a stunning 22 defeats - no team has won fewer games at this point in the season in the past decade.

The club have also managed to draw four times meaning there is a total of only 10 points on the board, but worse yet, UCD have also conceded 71 goals, which is 20 more than Cork City just above them in the table.

The home side in this one has also managed to score only 15 goals so far this season and heads into this match having conceded 48 goals more than Derry City and scored almost three times less than them.

As for Derry, they recorded their 14th win of the season last time out when they eased past Dundalk in a 3-1 victory, as they club managed to register a brace from Will Patching a brace from Ben Doherty.

Derry did lose their previous three games before that as they were knocked out of the Europa Conference League third qualifying round in August after a penalty shootout loss to Tobol.

The club also suffered a defeat to St Patrick's Athletic in the FAI Cup second round before a league draw with Bohemians.

These two have already met this season and it was once again another easy victory for Derry.

Jordan John McEneff scored after 13 minutes that day with Michael Duffy added a brace in the second half before Matt Ward managed to get in on the act with a finish late on.

Derry also had 12 shots on target that day from 26 efforts and 69% of the ball.

As for UCD, they are heading into this game having lost three in a row now since a draw with Cork City, as Galway United smashed them 5-1 in the FAI Cup second round before St Patrick's Athletic and Drogheda United eased to a win each in the league.

Forebet predicts an easy win for Derry and the game to see over 2.5 goals.
