Union's Stunning Form Gets More Momentum With a Win Over Leipzig

Fourth and third from last season’s Bundesliga will meet this weekend with Union Berlin welcoming RB Leipzig to the German capital just a few days on from the two learning about their Champions League group stage opponents.

Leipzig will once again meet with Manchester City a season on from them losing in 7-0 in the competition to them, as the club also face off with BSC Young Boys and Red Star Belgrade.

Union have the incredibly tough task of getting out of a group containing Napoli and Real Madrid alongside Braga.

As expected, it has been a topsy-turvy season so far for Leipzig after losing their three main players across the field in the transfer market.

They have, however, still managed to beat Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup final at the Allianz Arena after a stunning hat-trick from Dani Olmo.

Leipzig did suffer a loss to Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena on matchday one in the Bundesliga, however, as Olmo scored his fourth goal of the season before Lois Openda netted on his league debut for the club in a 3-2 loss.

Openda and Olmo were once again on the scoresheet for Marco Rose's side in the fantastic 5-1 smashing over Stuttgart, as Ben Henrichs also bagged a goal alongside a finish from Kevin Kampl and Xavi Simons.

As for Union, they have started their season in stunning style and have stormed right to the top of the Bundesliga table after two games with the club scoring four goals in three games across the two domestic competitions already.

Union head into this game off the back of beating Mainz 4-1 on the opening weekend in the Bundesliga, as Kevin Behrens continued to prove his worth with a hat-trick, as Milos Pantovic also scored late on in the game.

Union then travelled to Darmstadt soon after, and Behrens would score again after a brace from Robin Gosens, while Danilho Doekhi also scored in the second half. Brendan Aaronson was also sent off that game, in a match that stunningly saw Union have just 26% of the ball.

Elsewhere this season, the men from the capital have managed to defeat Astoria Walldorf 4-0 in a DFB-Pokal first round encounter. Robin Knoche scored a penalty that day alongside finishes from Sheraldo Becker, Diogo Leite and Janik Haberer.

Forebet predicts a win for Leipzig and for the game to see over 2.5 goals, as has been the case in all of the six games involving these two this season.
