Sheffield United Set to Kick of Their Premier League Return With a Win Over Palace
2471

Sheffield United are back in the Premier League after two seasons in the Championship with the club set to play hosts to Crystal Palace on the opening weekend in the 2023/24 season.

Since earning promotion back in to the top flight of English football, it’s been a very tough period for Sheffield United during a time where they should have made moves to establish themselves as a threat in the Premier League.

The Blades have lost star man from last season, Iliman Ndiaye, as he joined Marseille, while Sander Berge has moved to the fellow promoted side Burnley.

The likes of Billy Sharp have also been released from the club and in total, the club have seen 18 names leave the squad.

Worse yet, Sheffield United also head into this season as one of the most injury-hit sides in the Premier League.

The club will be without John Fleck this weekend and they will also have to change things around in the attack with Rhian Brwster and Oli McBurnie set to miss out through injury.

Ismaila Coulibaly and Olivwer Norwood are not going to be fit for this game either, but Daniel Jebbison and Vinicius Costa are likely to be involved after injury concerns.

As for Palace, they have suffered a massive loss this summer with the departure of Wilfried Zaha, who has been arguably the club's best-ever Premier League player.

The Eagles have also seen Jefferson Lerma and Matheus Franca join the club to fill this void, although the latter heads into the new season with an injury to deal with that likely keeps him out of this game.

In terms of injuries for Palace, they are set to be without Michael Olise for this game and seemingly the remainder of August with his hamstring injury, while Tyrick Mitchell and Will Hughes miss out, as does Matheus Oliveira.

During preseason, Palace would secure impressive wins over the likes of Crawley Town, Watford and Lyon by scoring a combined eight goals and letting in only one.

The Blades, however, lost to Stuttgart at Bramall Lane just last weekend and also suffered losses to Girona and Rotherham United and drew with Estoril. They only managed to beat Derby County and Chesterfield this summer.

Forebet predicts a win for Sheffield United this weekend and for the game to see under 2.5 goals, as the Bramall Lane faithful aim to get behind the Blades and push them forward at the start of this Premier League campaign
