Hertha Continue to Struggle With an Expected Draw Against Wehen
2605

Hertha Berlin is back at home for the first time in many years in the 2. Bundesliga as the men from the capital aim to get the first win on the board after a shocking opening game.

In what is the club's first season in the second tier of Germany football for a decade, Hertha has already struggled to adapt to life in 2. Bundesliga.

Towards the end of their time in the Bundesliga, Hertha would gradually finish lower and lower in the table with a 10th-placed finish in 2019/20 being followed up by a spot in 14th and 16th, before it finished dead last in the league in 2022/23.

In the end, Hertha finished on seven wins from 34 games and collected just 29 points throughout the season.

They also managed to lose 19 times and score just 42 goals alongside the 69 let in.

This dreadful form has spilled into the new season for the Berlin side, as they lost 1-0 on the road to Fortuna Dusseldorf in the last outing after having just two shots on target throughout the entire game.

Hertha did also have a topsy-turvy preseason, as they managed to lose to BSC Young Boys and Royal Antwerp alongside a 6-0 win over RSV Eintracht, a victory against RWDM and a 2-0 victory over BFC Dynamo.

The club also drew 1-1 with Standard Liege just prior to their loss to Dusseldorf, and it now means three winless games in a row for Hertha ahead of this one and a DFB-Pokal first round clash with Carl Zeiss Jena next week.

As for Wehen Wiesbaden, they drew 1-1 with Magdeburg in the first game of the season in 2. Bundesliga, as Prtajin scored an equaliser in the second half.

However, Vukotic will miss this game after a second yellow in the second 45 gave him his marching orders on matchday one.

Wiesbaden had a better preseason, however, as they managed to draw with Nordsjaelland before wins over Sint-Truiden and Fortuna Sittard.

It does mean a lengthy unbeaten run for the club, as they also defeated Arminia Bielefeld on the last day of the season with a brace from Hollerbach.

Forebet predicts a draw here and for the game to see under 2.5 goals after winless games for both Wehen and Hertha on matchday one.
