Botafogo Expected to Ease to All Three Points Against Coritiba
1691

The league leaders are back in action this weekend when they play hosts to Coritiba at the Estádio Nilton Santos with the away side aiming to get out of the relegation zone in what has been a tough season for them in the Brazilian Serie A.

It’s been a sensational season since the start for Botafogo with the club now already 11 points clear at the top of the table with just 16 games played.

In fact, the club have won 13 of those games already and lost just two games so far, drawing the other one.

That sole draw came against Santos last time out, although after being two goals down in the game, it was an impressive comeback with Botafogo netting two goals within four minutes towards the end of the first half - Tiquinho Soares and Adryelson scored a goal each that day.

Prior to this, Botafogo also drew 1-1 with Patronato after an early goal from Luis Henrique, although they did beat them in the first leg of their Copa Sudamericana round of 32 two-legged affair, so they will progress into the last 16.

Carlos Alberto and Janderson both scored a goal each that day.

Other wins back in Serie A within the past month have seen the league leaders defeat RB Bragantino, Gremio and Vasco da Gama all by 2-0 scorelines.

In fact, they have also beaten Palmeiras and Cuiaba 1-0 after a 2-0 victory over Fortaleza, meaning the club have gone on to register six clean sheets in the seven games since their last loss in Brazil to Athletico-PR.

Coritiba, however, are in dire straits and now sit down in 18th and have won only three games this season - only the bottom two have won fewer games.

The club have still put together a decent run of form since their 5-1 demolition at the hands of Gremio, as they've gone on to defeat Goias 2-1 away from home before defeating America-MG 3-1 in early July.

A draw with Cruzerio and a 2-0 win against Fluminense means a four-game unbeaten run for the relegation-sitting side.

As has been the case for most of the season, Forebet predicts a win for Botafogo with the club dropping points on just three occasions this campaign so far. The league leaders are storming to a league title victory already and Forebet predicts the game to also see under 2.5 goals.
