Botafogo to extend lead at Brasileiro summit with victory over Bragantino
2997

Brazilian Serie A leaders Botafogo welcome Red Bull Bragantino to the Estádio Olimpico Nilton Santos this weekend.

As we head into Matchday 15, Botafogo find themselves 10 points clear of second-placed Flamengo and third-placed Gremio.

As for Red Bull Bragantino, they occupy sixth place in the standings – 12 points shy of the league leaders and just outside the top four on goal difference.

Impressively, Botafogo have won 12 of their 14 league matches this season, taking 36 points from a possible 42.

It is also worth noting that Botafogo boast the best defensive record in the division, having conceded a measly seven goals this term, with nine clean sheets coming along the way.

Not only have Botafogo won seven of their last eight Serie A matches, but they have also kept seven clean sheets in the process.

Having won each of their seven home league games in 2023 – keeping six consecutive clean sheets – Botafogo are undoubtedly the most in-form team in Brazil’s top tier right now.

On the flip side, Red Bull Bragantino played out a goalless draw with Sao Paulo last time out, extending their unbeaten run in the league to five matches.

When you look at the bigger picture, Bragantino have lost just two of their 14 league outings this term, picking up six wins and six draws for good measure.

Across all competitions, Red Bull Bragantino have suffered a solitary defeat in their previous 15 matches, enjoying success in both the league and Copa Sudamericana.

It is worth pointing out, however, that Bragantino have only managed to win one of their six away league outings this season, recording four draws and one defeat.

Head-to-head: Botafogo have won each of their last two Serie A meetings with Red Bull Bragantino, losing just one of their four previous top-flight encounters.

To make matters worse for Bragantino, they have won just two of their eight previous meetings with Botafogo in all competitions.

Team news: Botafogo are currently without former Manchester United defender Rafael and Patrick de Paula, who are both sidelined with knee injuries.

On the flip side, Red Bull Bragantino’s injury list contains Leo Ortiz, Raul, Ignacio Laquintana, Lucas Cunha, Helinho and Eduardo Santos.

Although Bragantino are in good form right now, Botafogo are expected to extend their lead at the summit with another victory this weekend.

Forebet predicts that Botafogo will keep yet another clean sheet on their way to overcoming Red Bull Bragantino.
