Pumas and Mazatlan Likely to Draw on Matchday Two in Liga MX

The Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico City will open its doors for matchday two of the Liga MX Apertura side of things as Pumas UNAM play hosts to Mazatlan with both sides avoiding a defeat in matchday one.
Mazatlán managed to draw with Pachuca in their last outing after Eduard Bello scored an equaliser in the second half.
This also saw the club have five shots on target with 10 in total across the 90 minutes.
They also managed to draw with Dorados in a club friendly after the end of the Liga MX Clausura side of things, but despite avoiding a defeat in their recent games, the club did end the regular season with three defeats in a row.
Club Tijuana beat them back on matchday 15, as an own goal from Jair Diaz got the goal for Mazatlan that day.
They would then lose 2-0 to Monterrey before a 4-1 battering from Guadalajara in a game that saw Andres Montano scored for Mazatlan.
This was back in April, however, and they now head into this game as underdogs and with fans fearing another winless run after Pumas’ decent run of form.
They managed to beat Tijuana back on matchday one after having eight shots on target in a comeback win.
They initially took the lead in the first half through Ulises Rivas before two goals from Tijuana.
Juan Dinenno scored a penalty before a late finish from Eduardo Salvio stole all three points for Pumas.
They met with Houston Dynamo in their friendly before that, although this came back in February.
The game ended 0-0 in what was a lacklustre encounter with not much to take away for the Liga MX side.
The last time these two sides met came almost a year ago in a game that finished 1-1 back in July of last campaign.
Eduard Bello scored once more that day for Mazatlan before a late equaliser from Pumas through Nicolas Freire.
Pumas saw 20 shots on target that day, as Mazatlan scored with just their only shot on target.
Things look quite different now, however, with Pumas finishing way above Mazatlan in the league table that campaign.
