Bodoe/Glimt’s round No 11 loss to Stroemsgodset, 2-0, has opened the title race in the Eliteserien. Now, the Lightning will face off with the league’s reigning champions, Molde FK for round 12.

The last few years have been dominated by the likes of Bodoe and Molde FK. Sunday’s game will see the league leaders attempt to win for the 11th time this season, while Molde try to cut into Bodoe’s lead. These teams won the last four Eliteserien titles.

Bodoe/Glimt took 31 points from their opening 12 matches. Stroemsgodset were the first team this season to defeat Bodoe.

They dominated much of the match, limiting Bodoe’s goal chances.

Molde are fifth in the standings. They took 19 points from the opening 12 fixtures. MFK won four of their last six games, including last weekend, 1-0, against FK Haugesund.

The Blues took 12 points from the last six games in the Eliteserien. They outscored opponents 14-9 in those six matches.

Molde have struggled on the road this term. The Blues took six points from six games away from home, posting two wins and four losses.

Molde lost to Odds BK in their most recent away fixture. Bodoe’s players should feel confident about posting a home win over Molde at the Aspmyra Stadion.

Bodoe/Glimt are the Eliteserien’s best home team this season. They posted five wins and one draw from their opening six games.

The Lightning scored 19 times and conceded five goals at the Aspmyra.

Last season, Molde did the Eliteserien double over Bodoe. The Blues won 3-1 at home before going to the Aspmyra and claiming a 4-1 victory. Molde won four of the last five games in all competitions between the two clubs.

Despite their great head-to-head form, Molde are not playing well on the road. It could lead to a defeat at the Aspmyra this weekend.

Defender Brice Wembangomo could miss the match with an injury. Striker Runar Espejord is a doubt following a groin injury.

Amahl Pellegrino leads Bodoe with 12 goals and five assists. The winger has been brilliant this season for the Lightning.

Molde coach Erling Moe will be without Eirik Ulland Andersen due to a knee injury. Centre-forward Veton Berisha could miss the match following an injury. Midfielder Emil Breivik and forward Ola Brynhildsen have combined for 10 goals (five apiece.

Although Bodoe/Glimt have a poor recent record against Molde, they should pick up a home win.

The match should see goals, as Bodoe post a 3-2 win to keep distance between themselves and the chasing pack in the title race.
