Colon Santa Fe welcome Estudiantes La Plata to the Brigadier General Estanislao Lopez Stadium on Tuesday in Round 20 of the Argentine Primera Division.
Having failed to win any of their last four league games, Colon find themselves 22nd in the table – three points above bottom club Arsenal Sarandi.
At the opposite end of the standings, Estudiantes sit fourth – six points shy of first-placed River Plate and 15 points clear of Colon.
The hosts head into Tuesday’s clash on the back of a goalless draw with San Lorenzo, meaning they have drawn each of their previous four matches.
Colon started the season in poor form, failing to win any of their opening nine league outings while taking only six points from a possible 27.
Although they have upped their game since then – recording three wins, five draws and two losses – Colon remain just three points off the bottom of the standings.
It is worth noting, however, that Colon have avoided defeat in each of their past eight home league games, picking up two wins and six draws along the way.
Meanwhile, Estudiantes played out a 1-1 draw with Brazilian outfit Red Bull Bragantino in midweek, booking their place in the Copa Sudamericana knockouts in the process.
That victory also saw Estudiantes extend their unbeaten streak to 16 matches across all competitions, notching 11 wins and five draws in that time.
As a result, Estudiantes head into Tuesday’s showdown on an 11-game unbeaten run in the Argentine Primera Division, having picked up eight wins and three draws since their last loss.
Having avoided defeat in each of their last five away league outings – securing three straight wins before recording back-to-back draws – Estudiantes will be confident of sealing another positive result on Tuesday.
Head-to-head: Despite their recent struggles, Colon are currently enjoying a seven-game unbeaten run against Estudiantes in all competitions.
When you look at the bigger picture, Estudiantes have managed to win just one of their previous 11 Primera Division meetings with Colon.
Team news: Colon look set to be without the injured duo of Joaquin Ibanez (knee) and Paolo Goltz (heel) on Tuesday.
On the flip side, Estudiantes have reported no injury problems ahead of Tuesday’s clash, meaning head coach Eduardo Dominguez has a full-strength squad at his disposal.
Regardless of Colon’s recent record against Estudiantes, the in-form visitors are expected to pile more pressure on the struggling hosts this time around.
Forebet predicts that Estudiantes will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to overcoming Colon.
