Third-tier outfit Wehen Wiesbaden carry a 4-0 lead into the second leg of their relegation play-off against 2. Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld on Tuesday.

Despite seeing just 38% possession on home soil, Wehen Wiesbaden racked up 13 shots in the first leg, scoring inside six minutes before netting three goals after half time.

Arminia Bielefeld, meanwhile, managed a solitary attempt on target in the first leg. Needless to say, the second-tier side have left themselves with a mountain to climb.

After recording nine wins, seven draws and 18 losses, Arminia Bielefeld finished third from bottom in the 2. Bundesliga – two points from guaranteed safety.

Although only seven teams scored more goals than Arminia Bielefeld during the regular season, only bottom club SV Sandhausen conceded more.

Following last week’s thrashing, Arminia Bielefeld have managed to win just one of their previous nine matches, recording three draws and five defeats in the process.

It is also worth noting that Arminia Bielefeld have won only one of their last nine home games, drawing four of the previous five.

As for Wehen Wiesbaden, they finished fourth in Germany’s third tier – level with third-placed Osnabruck on 70 points and only four points behind table-topping Elversberg.

On top of that, Wehen Wiesbaden were the second-highest scorers during the regular season, netting 71 goals in 38 outings (1.87 goals per game).

Wehen Wiesbaden have now won eight of their past 12 matches thanks to last week’s triumph, suffering just two defeats along the way.

Although Wehen Wiesbaden have struggled on the road in recent times – taking a solitary point from their final three away games – they will be confident of completing the job on Tuesday.

Head-to-head: Arminia Bielefeld and Wehen Wiesbaden have met nine times since 2011. Arminia have claimed four wins, while Wiesbaden have registered two victories.

Arminia Bielefeld enjoyed a seven-game unbeaten streak against Wehen Wiesbaden between 2012 and 2020, but Wiesbaden bucked that trend in style last week.

Team news: Arminia Bielefeld will be without injured trio Guilherme Ramos (shoulder), Masaya Okugawa (collarbone) and Lukas Klunter (muscle) for the second leg.

Meanwhile, the injured duo of Dominik Bauer (knee) and Arthur Lyska (ligament) will be absent for Wehen Wiesbaden.

Given what happened in the first leg, it will be extremely difficult for Arminia Bielefeld to overturn the deficit and secure their second-tier status.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Wehen Wiesbaden will score over 1.5 goals on their way to defeating Arminia Bielefeld for the second time in five days.
