Monaco Expected to Miss Out on European Football With a Draw Against Toulouse
2217

Monaco are aiming to jump back into the top five European spots this weekend on what is the final day of the Ligue 1 campaign where Toulouse are in town at the Stade Louis II where the away side have nothing to play for.

All attention turns to Toulouse in this final game of the season with the club sitting down in 13th with a gap of 12 points on the bottom three.

Toulouse have had a fantastic season in their own right, and although they have finished much lower in the table than last season, they come into this one with a French Cup title on the books.

The club hammered the defending French Cup champions Nantes back at the end of April to win the title that day, as they managed to score four goals inside the first half. One more in the second 45 handed Toulouse the most convincing French Cup final win in recent memory.

Before the last day of the season, Philippe Montanier's men have won 12 games and lost 16 times too, drawing the other nine.

They also head into this game with 49 goals scored and 56 let in. Last time out, Toulouse drew 1-1 with Auxerre after drawing their past three games before that 0-0 with Ajaccio, Nantes and Nice.

What’s more, although it is a while away, a lot of attention for Toulouse will fall on August 5th, where they meet with Paris Saint-Germain in the Trophee des Champions.

As for Monaco, they have everything to play for with the club dropping down into sixth in recent weeks and losing out on a spot in the top three. It means another season without Champions League football for the club, but they can still finish fourth if results go their way.

Monaco are sitting just one point behind Lille in fourth and adrift of Rennes in fifth by only goals difference.

It means the club head into this game knowing they must win and hope that the other sides fail to win their games in order to jump back into Europe.

A point may not be enough, however, as both Rennes and Lille have much better goals difference records.

The club lost to Rennes last time out which threw them down into sixth after also losing to Lyon 3-1 and drawing 0-0 with Lille. It means their last and only win in the past month came in a narrow 2-1 victory against last-placed Angers.

Forebet predicts a draw here and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
